Wow what a weekend considering I started mine on Thurday, it kind of just feels like one very long day, basically only been home whilst I’ve been asleep and the rests been on the road.

Anyway I got along late Saturday evening to a really sweet sound gig at Joe Musgraves and Adam Parks place for meshes OF the afternoon, unfortunately I was working and missed the first gig and then I ran out of battery because I’d been using my camera pretty hardcore that afternoon.

I’m really loving crispness of this recording I made the other day! I find it intriguing that a recording of an inanimate object taken away from its original environment and recontextualised into a space of infamiliarity can provoke an emotion in me that captures my feelings and allows me to say ‘that is how I feel at the moment!’

I’d just like to publically thank my hosts and very good friends (Steve and Tamie) who allowed me to stay at their place in Manly West for the past few weeks. They amazingly put up with me coming home late regularly and also my long sleep in’s and I only made 1 mistake, I ate the last Wagon Wheel.

They’re the hosts (friends) with the most!

I made my way to Little Man! 5 ‘The Finale’ the Mormon Gibbon swansong as the place makes way for a new bus way, what a shame to see such a truly awesome venue demolished for the convenience of everyday punters, so they can save a minute.

Unfortunately my coverage of this event was a little below par as I spent the weekend moving and trying to deal with head spins as the flu took hold of my body and my sinuses threatened to explode. I was a little late to arrive but was pleasantly presented with the sounds of The Lost Domain. After a break we were straight back into some more film with live violin played by ……………………. I found it hard to focus on names and tended to just sit back and enjoy. The lost domain returned for a second set which was great, I especially enjoyed the vocal and hand drumming building into a vocal duet (in a chipmunk/alien voice) at the end which was a rendition of a song I do not know (maybe no one else knew it either).

The finale was a feature film presentation by crazy Euro arthouse director Dusan Makaveyev’s wild, raunchy and utterly ‘out-there’ semi-doco film WR: Mysterious of the Organism on 16mm!

I’m in the process of moving into my new appartment, should finish today which will be good. It’s doesn’t help that I’ve caught this flue that everyone seems to have + I haven’t been sick with a cold for more than a year, I almost forgot what it’s like, nothing like a reality check.

Something I enjoy about Brisbane is the willingness to share. I recall a number of years ago when I was here a construction site had peep holes cut into the fencing so people could see the massive deep hole which is now the LV building at the end of the Queen St. Mall. I’ve found in other cities in Australia that they don’t want to share the creative process, just the end product, the one you put your money into.

Today I watched as people spectated this phenomenon, at a new site, that is de-construction workers. Admittedly I was walking down the mall and thought ‘I wonder what those people are looking at?’ This was very sheepish! giving me yet another brilliant (yet to be proven) idea to implement within the public realm.
