While I was home in Tasmania I noticed the old Devonport Hospital had become derelict to the state that it had been taken over by vandals and the doors were open to just walk on in, so that I did. I was actually born in this place, took my first breath of air here and had my first bath. I’m in love with this space and wish I had of had time to explore it further as it’s potential is untapped. I do however feel it won’t be there much longer as the dental quarters beside it were floored recently.
I had intense feelings when inside as if I could feel the busyness that once possessed the corridors, the air of births, the coldness of death and the service it once provided to 1000′s of people. It now lays dormant waiting for it’s fate just like the many people who waited within it walls over the years.

Back in Brisbane now and back to work. We had a wonderful time in Tasmania (although a little cold). It was an amazing trip and great to catch up with family and friends. Sian and I traveled around a reasonable amount of Tasmania for the time we had spare. Can’t wait to head back down in August!

Had a great time in Hobart staying with my Uncle and Auntie. The gig went well and I was extremely happy with the sound. Scott Cotterell and Matt Warren played a couple of awesome sets. The trio collab we did at the end sounded off the wall, completely improv and unrehearsed, we were all pleasantly surprised.

stay tuned more Hobart shots soon!

A beautiful winter afternoon in Tasmania making some sounds by the beach.
