Left of Left – Now running….

I’m happy to say ‘Left of Left‘ is finally up and running, after months of studio preparation it is nice to see the work in action. Last night the blinds were pulled at The Judith Wright Centre for Contemporary Arts and Left of Left started living, eating and breathing. Simply based on Peripheral Spaces from various environments I’ve been in the past years, Left of Left extends on the recomposition of the video and sound gathered from these areas by allowing the content itself to control its manipulation through the creation of an audio/video feedback loop. In combination with this the work responds to it’s surroundings monitoring people and movement in and around the space, using realtime and pre-recorded footage from that same space and placing it back into the pool of imagery from which the work can develop/draw upon.

AXXONN @ Rics

Last night AXXONN rocked Ric’s – well in fact we all rocked Rics (Cougar Flashy/AXXONN/No Anchor) it was fun, vibrant and downright crazy, people were saying it was the most fucked up thing they had seen at Rics for a long time and that it reminded them of how good Rics used to be, that alone makes us quite proud!! There was crazy sets, heavily distorted PA bashing and some big, down and dirty doom!

AXXONN have one show left in Brisbane (farewell AXXONN show, Step Inn Front Bar July 10th) before we head off to the UK/EU for something like 25 shows (more TBA).

Of Note: I’m wearing the new Motley Crue shirt my Mum bought me during the week and insisted I wear at the show ;-)

My video composition for the NEXT WAVE – Time Lapse program to be displayed in Federation Square is almost complete. I am just making adjustments to the final composition before setting it to make the final render.

Here are some stills taken directly from the final composition ‘Subtle Disparity’. (I will post some small video clips tomorrow)

Time Lapse – AV Feedback Loop Manipulation
Tuesday June 02nd 2009, 9:48 am

Development of my Time Lapse work is moving along quite quickly now. Subtle Disparity is really taking shape now with the inter-fed AV channels really developing one and other through the Audio/Visual Feedback Loop I have created. Here is a diagram of how it works:

av_feedback_loop

>> ‘Light Sensor’ reads the varying light level in the ‘Image’ from Federation Square
>> The ‘Audio’ from Fed. Square is manipulated according to the reading from the ‘Light Sensor’
>> The ‘Audio’ creates an ‘Audio Wave Form’
>> Audio Frequencies within the ‘Audio Wave Form’ are interpreted and processed into data that varies depending on the level of specific frequencies.
>> The ‘Audio Wave Form’ data then manipulates charateristics of the ‘Image’.

Below are some A/V clips taken from the process:
